SPE's Annual Technical Conference(ANTEC), May 1-5, 2005 in Boston:
Medical Plastics Keynote Speaker - Tuesday May 3
Medical Device Coatings – Getting Back to Basics

Ninety percent of the products in the world are coated in order to derive functional or aesthetic properties. Medical devices have long employed coatings to improve device performance, and patient comfort and health. Specific applications include drug delivery, and hydrophilic, antimicrobial, and antithrombogenic coatings, to name a few. The keynote address highlighted the basics of coating technologies, economics, and intellectual property considerations, while case studies aided in the illustrating these major criteria.
